Lower Cooley Brook Reservoir in Chicopee

Cooley Brook Reservoir is in Chicopee

Reservoirs were built there in 1893 and September 8 1927. The first dam had to replaced in 1914 due to a major breach. These were drinking water sources for Chicopee. The first reservoir held 5 million gallons in all. The Cooley Brook Reservoir was the second drinking water reservoir of Chicopee after the Abbey Reservoir. The CCC did projects there in the 1930s including trails and bridges.
The Cooley Brook runs from the NE into Chicopee Reservoir and then into Lower Reservoir. The dams are in the SW of each. There are wetlands along the upper Cooley Brook area where there is also bird watching.

Jarvis Neighborhood of Holyoke

Ingleside
Calvary Cemetery of the Sisters of Providence
Ingleside has undergone dramatic changes over the last 200 years. It started out as being farmland and then a series of orphanages and motherhouses. Then in 1979 the Holyoke Mall moved into the area. Even the size of the neighborhood has contracted since Springdale and Whiting Farms neighborhoods have some into being.
