North Congregational Church is from 1872 and is a Richardsonian designed church. The designs are from 1868. It is also called the Grace Baptist Church and the Hispanic Baptist Church. The parish house is attached to the north.

The original North Congregational Church was on Main Street. It was founded in 1846.

Grace Baptist Church Sunday School is at 22 Salem Street.

Oak Grove Cemetery is from 1881 and the gates are from 1884. The first burial was Lizzie Belden Whitcomb who died the 12th of April 1882. FINDAGRAVE There are over 500 people in this cemetery that have death dates older than 1882 but they are all cenotaphs. This is very common is a beautiful cemetery such as this one that was built late in the history of a community. James Kirkham was the founder of this cemetery. The chapel like the gate is from 1884. Yes, it is in front of a holding tomb.

Before 1876 the Episcopal Church was across the street. It faced either State or Dwight Streets. It was called Christ Church.

A brook is a small stream of water. A creek is a stream intermediate in size. A river is large stream. Holyoke has one river – the Connecticut River. It has no creeks but does have many brooks. [A creek is deep enough to float a boat and wide enough that you cannot jump across it but they are hard to navigate since they are often blocked by fallen trees.]
