The first tomb was from 1841 and expanded in 1856. A new one was made in 1873.

Methodist Cemetery

A child of Samuel McNary was buried here on the 12th of December 1825. This was the first burial in the Methodist Cemetery. The Union Street Methodist Episcopal Society sold this cemetery in 1858.

Beth El Cemetery has its temple in Springfield. LINK The Beth El Cemetery is in West Springfield. The cemetery started in 1915. The chapel within the cemetery is from 1927.

Samuel Hoyt was the leader of the Highland Park Associates. Hoyt at FINDAGRAVE. This was a real estate group that was based on North Pleasant Street at the SE corner of Yale Street. From 1920 to 1925, his company was at 85 Dartmouth Street.

In 1923 he started up another company called Hoyt Construction. In later life, he would be the real estate manager at People’s Bank and at Mechanics Bank.
