Village Cemetery is also called Jenksville Cemetery. It was found on Windsor Street close to Chestnut Street.
The first burial in the cemetery is most likely Ezra Parsons. He died in 1818 and that might date the cemetery’s first year. It was enlarged in 1842.
Only problem with this story is that the next burial was not until 1822 and that makes more sense since the canal was made that year.
This cemetery was mostly moved into the Island Pond Cemetery in 1902. About 475 bodies and stones were moved in that year. The land of the fomer Village Cemetery was then given to the Ludlow Mills and they built workers homes on this land.
