Upper Mill Pond is feed by Broad Brook, Wilton Brook, and White Brook. The original dam was made by the Williston Thread Company. The area with the old mills is the Nashawannuck Mills Historic District.

Carpenter Hospital is also called the Isolation Hospital. It opened August 6 1918. It would close in December of 1937. In 1938 the structure would become the training grounds for the NYA or National Youth Administration.
