First Central Baptist Church of Chicopee

First Central Baptist Church is from 1878.

In 1832 a Baptist Church was built on Maple and Belcher Streets. This was the First Baptist Church of Chicopee and the church edifice was at 59 Belcher Street and parsonage was at 64 Belcher Street.

In 1850 a Baptist Church was built on Market Street.

On May 14 1931 all the Baptists of Chicopee merged.

Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church

Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church is at 474 Armory and 577 Carew Streets in Springfield Massachusetts. It was made in 1925 and is another John Donohue church. The campus is a Local Historic District.

The parish was started in 1906 in the Hungry Hill neighborhood (now called Liberty Heights). In 1907 a wooden church was made. It was at Armory corner of Grover. Rectory at 14 Grover. It would become at the church hall in 1925. The 1925 church had a rectory attached to it in the 1970s. The church closed in 2009.

Our Lady of Hope School is from 1917. It is at 615 Carew Street of Springfield. The nuns were from the Sisters of Saint Joseph. A newer school and convent were built behind the church.

Holy Trinity Cemetery

Holy Trinity Cemetery is on Elm Court Road and was founded in 1931. The Holy Trinity Cemetery belongs to the Saint Valentine Polish National Catholic Church of Northampton. The Saint Valentine Polish National Catholic Church is at 127 King Street in Northampton.

Wladyslaw Pawlowski was one of the early pastors of the church but not the founder.

FINDAGRAVE

All burials earlier than 1931 are cenotaphs. The Pawel Bobrowiecki case is peculiar.

Wincenty Mazata is far from all other stones.

Calvary Cemetery

Calvary Cemetery in Hatfield – Bridge Street (100 yards from School Street and 200 yards from Prospect) – 1900 – belonged to Saint Joseph Parish – church at 15 School Street – This cemetery was heavily used both by the Saint Joseph Church and by the Holy Trinity Church. The Holy Trinity Cemetery in Hatfield belongs to the Holy Trinity Church in Northampton which is a Polish National Church.

Now this cemetery is associated with Our Lady of Grace Parish

Kesser Israel Synagogue

The building started in 1923 as the Congregation Kodimoh Synagogue. They own the Congregation Kodimoh Cemetery in West Springfield. Cemetery LINK. The congregation dates back to 1916 and its origin is in this Forest Park neighborhood.

Then Kesser Israel Synagogue in 1966 took over. They are a Hasidic group. Their cemetery is in Springfield at LINK. The congregation started in the North End of Springfield in 1900. The moved into a mansion in 1909, that, is the Jobson Mansion at 329 Chestnut Street. This home synagogue was taken over and they moved here.

Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church

Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church includes a church, a chapel, a bell tower, and a community house. The chapel at right is the Grace Chapel. The campus is at 361 Sumner Avenue. All is from 1924 to 1928. The chapel is from 1925. The tower is from 1928. The church is from 1929. The hall is from 1924. In 1924 the parsonage is at 89 Maplewood Terrace. The prior church is shown below.

The bell tower has 61 bells.
