This is part of the Holyoke Heritage Trail so after visiting here get back onto the trail.
The Victory is one of many movie theaters that existed in Holyoke and is one of four that still exists. Read about all the theaters HERE.
The Victory was completed in 1920 in an Art Deco style. It is located at the northeast corner of Chestnut and Suffolk Streets. Opening night was December 30 1920 and had a bill of vaudeville acts and one movie – The Furnace. Sadly this is a lost film with no known segments. The book still exists and details the life of a man whose family did not want him to marry.
The Victory was able to have only movies as of 1931. The Victory Theater stayed open until the summer of 1979 and has been closed since then.
