Oren built over 300 homes in the Oakdale section of the city. His father had a farm on the land between Cabot Hampshire and Franklin. Oren loved to grow roses in his yard. He had over 200 varieties of roses. His best roses he would take to the Holyoke Public Library to display them on tables there. He would line every street that he developed with shade trees.
