
John Scott House is from 1861. This is at 117 Main St Easthampton. It stayed in the Scott family until 1919 that is 58 years. Liz Scott ran her dress making business here.
Dr. Francis Greene House is from 1850. It is at 115 Main Street. Doctor Greene practiced there from 1864 to 1912. Elisha Rice bought the land in 1849 and built a house there. It is in the Greek Revival style.

Knight’s Brick Block – Preston Block is the oldest part of these blocks at a birth year of 1849. The address is 83-87 Main Street. Lucius Preston a taylor who worked in this block would own the block from 1901 to 1920 and the building came to be known as the Preston. The structure was made at two floors and a gable but in 1893 was changed from that into a three floor one. Horatio Knight had this block made and was the first commercial building in town.

Masonic Building – Shop Row is from 1861. It is at 67 to 75 Main Street. Lyman Bartlett built this building. Thomas Pomeroy would buy it in 1865 and name it after himself Pomeroy Block. (Macris) Then it known as the Merrill Block and then the White Block.
From 1912 to 1979 it was the Masonic Building.
J H Bardwell had the post office here for a while.

Old First National Bank of Easthampton started in the town hall in 1864. (Macris) In 1871 this bank building was built as one of two structures directly over a cemetery that was moved. In 1952 the First National Bank of Easthampton moved across the street. Read about the old cemetery HERE.

Williston and Knight Button Works at 19 Payson Avenue is from 1891. It is now part of the Williston Academy campus. The first ever mill of the Williston and Knight Button Works was at 1 Cottage Street. By 1910 it was part of the United Button Company. The Williston and Knight Button Works was started in 1847 by Horatio Knight and Samuel Williston. They would make covered buttons. To get power they would dam the Broad Brook which comes out of Holyoke into Easthampton. It is as named a wide brook and meets the definition for a creek. An earthen dam was made with a spillway and both are still in place and make up cottage street. The reservoir that they formed is called the Nashawannuck.

Williston started the academy in 1841.
